Hello,
In these uncertain times, we hope you are hugging your loved ones tight at home and keeping yourselves healthy. We wanted to update you with some information about our upcoming wedding weekend in June. Our plan has always been to do a private ceremony with immediate family only in the Big Bear mountains on Friday, June 12th. Then we would celebrate with all of our family and friends the following evening on Saturday, June 13th.
As of right now, the wedding weekend is going forward as planned. We are hoping (AND PRAYING!) the coronavirus will peak soon enough to where we’re on the downside of the curve before the wedding. We are working with our vendors to make sure the day is safe and beautiful. Here are some safety precautions we are putting into place:
- The anticipated guest count will be around 130, which we hope is under any government regulations at the time.
- We have always planned on a sit-down dinner which means NO BUFFET, but rather your meal will be prepared in a sanitary kitchen with only staff that has been pre-screened for any illness.
- The reception venue has ensured that they will be taking all necessary precautions to maintain a clean environment.
- Know that the majority of the evening is taking place outdoors, which allows for more space and cleaner air.
- Although we love your little ones, we ask this be an adult only celebration.
OUT OF TOWN GUESTS
You are in our thoughts as we know some have already purchased plane tickets and others are waiting to do so. In fact, 34% of our combined guest list is from out of state and half of the bride’s guests are.
We hope it helps to know that
we will only postpone the wedding for one of two reasons:
- The bride's immediate family is unable to travel from Omaha, Nebraska.
- The reception venue forces us to because of government limits on gatherings.
When it comes to booking your flight, we encourage you to book with an airline that has friendly change/cancellation policies just in case. We would even recommend taking advantage of cheaper flights right now. You have an option to fly into one of three airports in the area; Los Angeles, Long Beach, or Orange County (the closest and a smaller airport). We really do want to see our out of state guests and celebrate with them!
LOCAL GUESTS IN ORANGE COUNTY
We have a favor to ask. Do you happen to have a spare bedroom or two? Hotels and home-sharing platforms (Airbnb & Vrbo) are all over the place with refund policies. We would love for our out of state guests to have a place to stay without worry in case things do change in the future. Just reply to this email if you’re willing to open your home. Together we can make this happen 🙂
But what about a printed invitation? We are considering what this might look like in light of the likelihood of changes in the next couple months. It would sadden me (the bride/graphic designer) to invest time and money into creating something that then quickly becomes irrelevant because of changes. For now, we know that email will be our primary form of communication with you about the wedding. Whether it’s snail mail or email, you will receive an invitation with a chance to formally RSVP in a few weeks. Please hold off on letting us know if you’re attending until we have our system in place to keep track.
To all of our guests, you were invited to celebrate our wedding because you are important to us, but we also want you to know that if for any reason you cannot attend we understand. We all have some time to see how things unfold over the next couple months before making final decisions.
We’ll be in touch regularly before the wedding, especially with any changes happening. Don’t hesitate to reply to this email with questions. For now, we sign off asking for prayer as this engagement season is not quite what we envisioned, but as we were reminded with from our pastor, entering into marriage is an expression of trust in God’s promise for a good future. We do trust God and His plan for this season.
Love to you all,
